NATIONAL CANCER SURVIVORS MONTH
With all that is going on right now in the world, you'd almost forget that June is the National Cancer Survivors Month! An estimated 16.9 million cancer survivors live in the United States alone, and that number is projected to exceed 22 million by 2030.
This increasing number of cancer survivors has two faces. Of course, it is great to see that more and more people are able to survive this dreadful disease, thanks to better treatments and knowledge gathered by groundbreaking studies. But at the same time, it is painful to see that this disease is affecting more and more people worldwide. We're talking about one out of three already. It shows that so much more needs to be done about the prevention of cancer. That's why Cherries on Top doesn't only focus its funding to research aimed to find new cures for cancer, but also on research that focuses on cancer prevention.
We want to shine an extra light on those who were able to survive this dreadful disease during National Cancer Survivors Month. They are heroes and a great inspiration to others. But at the same time, many survivors will have to deal with pain, fear, or a traumatic experience for the rest of their lives. So besides inspiring other cancer patients by sharing hope and faith for the road ahead, cancer survivors could use some extra support as well in times.
That's why we created a unique collection in our webshop dedicated to cancer survivors. We want to celebrate their lives, their strength, show them we care about their wellbeing, and understand what they have been through.
Please have a look at what we've created for these heroes here. If you know a cancer survivor, send them over the item you like most to show them you appreciate their battles fought, their strength, their presence.
